SecurityDreamer. The Future of Security.
Steve Hunt, CPP CISSP, is known for nudging, prodding and sometimes kicking-in-the-seat-of-the-pants the security industry and its colorful personalities. He has worked in physical security and IT security and from 1998 to 2005 he headed the security research practices at Giga Information Group and Forrester Research. Steve was named a CSO Magazine Compass Award Winner and Security Magazine's "25 most influential" in 2006. Steve is the Founder and CEO of Hunt Business Intelligence, an industry advisory firm providing insight into trends and best practices shaping the future of technology.

This site is a forum for constructive critique and innovative ideas about the security industry. I share my reflections and invite you to join the dialogue that will make the industry better, and make the world safer and more comfortable, too. I actually believe that the entire industry of security (operational risk management) will be better when physical, homeland and IT security utilize and share the most efficient and effective software, networking and processes.
Someday security and society will find equilibrium. Until then, I continue to work hard to create awareness and to advance security technology, privacy, identity, and homeland security toward the better balance.
For the last 25 years since carrying a toolbox as an apprentice under the tutelage of my locksmith mentor Mark Garfinkel of Wilmington, Delaware and through my years implementing and designing security for facilities, including physical access control systems, disaster recovery, alarms, and surveillance, as well as studying philosophy, history and computer science at Elizabethtown College with Stan Sutphin and graduate school at the University of Chicago under Martin Marty and Phil Devenish I have looked for ways to organize and clarify innovative ideas. Especially security ideas. I think of myself as the philosopher-in-residence for the security industry.
Today I am involved in many aspects of security technology as advisor, futurist and consultant, although many people still think of me as an industry analyst, a role I had from 1998 to 2005 while running security teams at Giga Information Group and Forrester Research. In 2005 I founded the security think tank Hunt Business Intelligence to focus on best practices and optimal technology architectures for security.
I want to make the world a better place, and to solve the damn problems already! Too many folks just talk and talk. I want to create a forum for ideas to flourish, and for problems to be met by solutions. I hope youll contribute your ideas through SecurityDreamer.com with me.
