About Steve

Steve Hunt, CPP CISSP, is known for nudging, prodding and sometimes kicking-in-the-seat-of-the-pants the security industry and its colorful personalities. He has worked in physical security and IT security and from 1998 to 2005 he headed the security research practices at Giga Information Group and Forrester Research. Steve was named a CSO Magazine Compass Award Winner and Security Magazine's "25 most influential" in 2006. Steve is the Founder and CEO of Hunt Business Intelligence, an industry advisory firm providing insight into trends and best practices shaping the future of technology.

Overview
Proximex stands out as easy to deploy and easy to use and earns our Recommended rating. The product has an excellent pedigree, with several members of the executive and development teams coming from NetIQ, a company with a successful product in a related category of information technology. The product integrates with many common security systems and permits limited video management (with expanded capabilities expected in version 2.0).

While it has less flexibility in out of the box features than other products, Surveillint produces instant user appeal. The graphical user interface (GUI) and the simulation tools dramatically shorten the learning curve for this software. The product is designed with the reliability and scalability of the best IT systems, and ensures that every deployment will enjoy excellent performance.

One of the highlights of the product is the integrated incident management system. It is easy to use and intuitive, tracking all activities related to opening tickets and producing reports. Proximex is a company that knows how to produce excellent software. Unfortunately for prospective customers, it just doesn’t have enough sales people on the street to ensure that it will be around long enough to grow its market share.
