About Steve

Steve Hunt, CPP CISSP, is known for nudging, prodding and sometimes kicking-in-the-seat-of-the-pants the security industry and its colorful personalities. He has worked in physical security and IT security and from 1998 to 2005 he headed the security research practices at Giga Information Group and Forrester Research. Steve was named a CSO Magazine Compass Award Winner and Security Magazine's "25 most influential" in 2006. Steve is the Founder and CEO of Hunt Business Intelligence, an industry advisory firm providing insight into trends and best practices shaping the future of technology.

Overview
Intergraph is designed for the most demanding deployments. The product has the broadest sensor and device support and the company has the richest experience in security command and control systems. The software is very reliable benefiting from dozens of years and deployments to work out the bugs. It is heavy, requiring plenty of warm bodies to install and configure, but once deployed it is a reliable workhorse.

Customers get a complete operational picture from the product, pulling together real time information from multiple sources such as 911 calls, physical security and environmental sensors, video, access control, and so forth all in one visual display designed to make faster operational decisions. For example, automated video screens may be triggered by combinations of alerts. An invalid badge read will pop up relevant cameras, the locations of which instantly appear on a map display. Reports can show a record of what video was actually viewed by the operator, who was dispatched to investigate, and all related actions of the operator.

Intergraph’s security framework is actually a number of different software products deployed as needed, accompanied by professional services to install and set up. Due to the complexity of customization, third-party integrators are usually necessary. We feel that most prospective customers of situation management software will not feel that the additional device support is worth the cost.
