About Steve

Steve Hunt, CPP CISSP, is known for nudging, prodding and sometimes kicking-in-the-seat-of-the-pants the security industry and its colorful personalities. He has worked in physical security and IT security and from 1998 to 2005 he headed the security research practices at Giga Information Group and Forrester Research. Steve was named a CSO Magazine Compass Award Winner and Security Magazine's "25 most influential" in 2006. Steve is the Founder and CEO of Hunt Business Intelligence, an industry advisory firm providing insight into trends and best practices shaping the future of technology.

Overview
We were impressed by this product and consider at very valuable, but point out that it is designed for engineers, developers and integrators – it is not an end-to-end situation management solution. Frankly, it is misleading to compare this product to the others in this category. We learned as we proceeded with the evaluation that SensorBridge is a useful tool for integrators who wish to build a situation management product, but it is not a completed solution like Orsus or Proximex.

Take a look at the most relevant score, Architecture. We believe that score illustrates the power and flexibility of the SensorBridge technology. While the Performance, Ease of Use, and day-to-day features (Administration) showed low scores, the product has capabilities for providing high performance and ease of use in any custom-designed application. We feel it is an excellent value for developers who, for a small license fee, can use the SensorBridge tools to develop a superior product.

The product combines sensor data from physical security or IT using tools from Microsoft Visual Studio and the .Net framework. The developers tools may hook into in systems, databases or even SCADA systems, providing unified platform on which the customer may develop a usable application. Each customer should be prepared to develop a customized front end. SensorBridge lives up to Augusta System’s stated goal to deliver all the integration, fusion, grouping, and correlation needed to glue together disparate security operational systems.
