Steve,
Interesting post and I really like the fact that you have truly become a talking head. I believe there are a number of change vectors in the physical security and access control markets that make disruption a FACT. In almost all these cases Cisco and other companies have focused solutions on networks (e.g. bi-directional communication, browser interfaces, appliances ...), strong authentication, edge devices, identity lifecycle management (as opposed to identity management) and other features. For what its worth I have developed a list of next generation PACS features that I am happy to share. To the basic question though I think Cisco has already been disruptive in the sense that they show the market is no longer the domain of the traditional vendors and channels.

Thanks, Sal. good point about disruption. I've had the sense that both physical access control and surveillance were destined for an upgrade to more business oriented indentity and event management, respectively.

Your welcome Steve, you make a very important point to frame things in terms of an upgrade to critical business functions, that's where the value lies.
